Highlands State Bank® Continues to Grow

The year of 2008 is providing numerous challenges for the financial services industry. However,
Highlands State Bank continues to grow. Total assets as of June 30, 2008 were $59.2 million,
increasing 68% when compared to $35.3 million at June 30, 2007 and increasing 38% when
compared to total assets at December 31, 2007 of $42.9 million.

Deposit Account Interest Rates tied to Prime

Highlands has introduced variable interest rates on money market accounts and interest bearing checking accounts. Interest rates on these accounts float with the Prime Interest Rate and will go up or down as the Prime Rate changes from time to time. The bank offers a high balance money market account with interest calculated at 60% of Prime, a regular money market account at 50% of Prime and an interest bearing checking account at 45% of Prime.

MoneyPass is Highlands State Bank's® newest way to save you money. You can get cash from the ATM without a surcharge every place you see the MoneyPass logo. MoneyPass has thousands of ATM's around the country. If you are leaving town you can visit www.moneypass.com to search for ATM's by address or zip code.

Home Equity Loans

Home equity loans and lines of credit at Highlands are still very popular. Our rates are the lowest in our market area. Many local residents are taking advantage of the low interest rates to move their financing from other area banks.

Lobby Art Display

The lobby display of art work continues. In addition to paintings the bank’s lobby has been enhanced with a show of quilts and another of photography. Highlands has sponsored two wine and cheese receptions on Sunday afternoons to allow the public to view the displays and meet the artists. The bank lobby is open for viewing during normal banking hours as well.

Desktop Banking is a hit with Businesses of all sizes!

Your business can now deposit checks right from your own office. It's safe, secure, convenient and fun! With Desktop Banking you capture the images of your check deposits through a scanner provided by Highlands and transmit the deposit to the bank. You'll receive an email confirming receipt of the deposit and your account gets credited the same day. Because this is done electronically, deposits can be made as late as 6PM and still receive same day credit. Deposits made after 6PM are credited the next business day. If you deposit 5 checks a week, or 500 checks a day, we have a solution for you. Spend more time with your customers, and less time trying to get to the bank!
